Nordhavn 52 "Mermaid Explorer"

Total miles: 14000 Nm

Travelled from Dana Point to Mexico around to Loreto, then back to Dana Pint and onwards up the West Coast to Seattle Canada until the late fall 2013. Wintered in Friday harbour for four months. Then back to Canada and onwards Alaska, last destination Glacier Bay. Back down to San Francisco and then across to Oahu, Maui ,the Big Island. Onwards to Island Kiribati, Apia- Samoa, Vavau Tonga and Nuku’alofa Tonga. From there to Whangarei, New Zealand our present location, before a couple of years exploring New Zealand’s coast.

Over the past two years we have:

Anchored 125 days in 79 different locations

364 days in 88 different harbours (53 days in Friday Harbour wintering, living on-board)

Entered six bar entry ports on the way up the West Coast

In this time our only minor equipment problems:

Front oil seal main engine-replaced under warranty

Auto pilot hydraulic pump shaft sheared – replaced under warranty

Punctured diaphragm manual black water pump

Windlass gear box- replaced under warranty

Crane hydraulics leak – completely rebuilt under warranty

Bilge pump valves and drive
